No one said a regular three-seater sofa is a must have for the living room. What you do need is place for your guests to sit comfortably. In a formal living room, replace the sofa with armchairs. For a more informal living room design, you could also throw in beanbags and poufees. A cushioned bench or a daybed will serve you in the same way as a sofa while simultaneously adding a unique touch to your living room. A futon paired with armchairs is another viable alternative to the regular three seater sofa set arrangement. Along with giving our living room a contemporary look, these other pieces of furniture also allows the room to be used as an impromptu guest room to accommodate surprise guests. The picture of this living room above is an example of things can look radically different without the normal sofa set.
It’s tried and tested formula that most designers use, to create an illusion of roominess by strategically placing the mirror in the living room. To create a perfect ambience, place the mirror behind the light source, either a hanging pendant lamps or floor lamps like it is done here. The result will be mesmerizing.
Concrete wall, raw wood floor, a rug complementing the flooring style, low height sofa, a modern art adorning the wall from beneath and a huge lamp bending to blend with the youthful décor of the space. The rusticity of this idea is modern, trendy and magnificent.
Most interior designers resort to using mirrors for increasing the amplitude of a space. Including the mirrors in the backdrop of a cabinet adds functionality to living room designs as the shelves can display decorative accessories to enhance the beauty of the room, while the mirrors reflect light to brighten up the living area.
