When you speak of designing a home the first space to come to mind is always the living room. This is probably the most worked area. It’s the place where we spend a lot of time on with the family as well as friends and guests. Hence, it is important for this room to be well-designed, warm and inviting. However, a lot depends on how we use the living room. Living rooms can have a number of functions depending on your lifestyle. For some people, the living room is a formal space meant only for receiving guests. For others, the living room functions as a place to entertain guests and a family room where everyone gets together in the evenings. Depending on the intended function of the room, you can add the cozy factor in different ways. Finding the right balance between a warm and functional living room might take some experimentation, but here are a few easy tips to get your started.
Place a beautiful carpet on the floor in the same tones as the rest of the living room, so that it matches the wallpaper, the runner on the coffee table and the accent cushions on the sofa. Enhance the look with a large floor vase with a dry arrangement. Using neutral shades such as grey guarantees a modern touch to the décor.
Explore the vertical space and gently cajole the eyes of the guests to look beyond the limitation of space. If there is not much of floor space to decorate, decorate it from above. But again, remember less is more. Don’t overdo it. Keep it simple, it will look elegant.
By definition drawing room is a room in any house where we receive and entertain our guests. However, with changing time this definition is just for dictionary. In reality drawing room has become the main activity centre of the house where family loves to hang around. After all we don’t have guests visiting our home every day. Undoubtedly this room should be decorated differently to welcome the visitors. However, this room should also have friendly and personal vibe to welcome the family warmly, encouraging them to spend some quality time together at the end of the day.
