You don't have to stick to the well-known bathroom brands for furniture – many other stores, including John Lewis and Argos, sell freestanding bathroom furniture and bathroom cabinets. Just check that the furniture is intended for use in the bathroom, as it will be exposed to a lot of moisture and heat.
This year, we asked customers about the durability of their bathroom suite and its different components - bath, shower cubicle, sink and toilet. Only three big brands were rated as 'good' (four stars) for durability overall. All the rest got three stars. The results for individual components saw star ratings ranging from three to five stars.
We are also able to reveal results for bathroom installation for Wickes, B&Q and Bathstore, alongside independents. The top company got 77%, while the bottom an unimpressive 51%.
So, whether you're totally renovating your bathroom or sprucing it up with new furniture, it's important to ensure that the bathroom furniture you get will both suit your needs and stand the test of time.
