By definition drawing room is a room in any house where we receive and entertain our guests. However, with changing time this definition is just for dictionary. In reality drawing room has become the main activity centre of the house where family loves to hang around. After all we don’t have guests visiting our home every day. Undoubtedly this room should be decorated differently to welcome the visitors. However, this room should also have friendly and personal vibe to welcome the family warmly, encouraging them to spend some quality time together at the end of the day.
If the room looks well put together, but one still wants a change, look toward the ceiling for inspiration. Create textural elements with 3D panels, strips of wood or board to transform the ambiance of the hall altogether. Either stick with one material or be bold and experiment with a combination.
The décor of the living room is basically to impress our guests or make them envy of your exclusively taste. If the bungalow is huge or it’s a mansion then the décor of the living hall should meet the elegance and enormity of the space. Double-height ceiling scattered with silver lights, golden pieces decorating the wall, tapestry falling from above covering the large windows and simple yet elegant decoration on the floor. Subtle shades all over with just a splash of brightness carefully added here and there are making this hall extraordinarily elegant and luxurious.
Living rooms are usually the largest spaces in a house and hence it is easy to experiment with textures in this room. Instead of matching finishes and textures in your furniture and décor pieces, mix and match textures to create a warm, lived-in air. Whether you to choose to have a sofa or not, scatter throw cushions over your seating to make it look inviting. A rug in the center of your room will not only make the space feel cozier but will also help define the living room design and bind its individual elements together. Curtains are another living room design element where you can experiment with textures and the effect it has on the room. For small living rooms, choose light sheer fabrics while heavier silks and cottons are better suited to expansive living rooms. Even the texture of your curios impacts the room. For contemporary styled living rooms, pick sleek metallic accents and for more traditional living rooms pick organic wooden knick knacks.
